Middleton In Teesdale Special Show & Sale

On Tuesday 11^th of February Harrison and Hetherington conducted its special show & sale of store cattle in Middleton in Teasdale Mart.

The pre sale show was kindly sponsored by Tithebarn, Eden Farm Suppliers, I’Anson, Phillip Holden (Rural), H & H Insurance Brokers, AgriSource, Castle Farm Vets and Carrs Billington.

The show had a great entry of cattle put before the judge Mr Huw Evans to cast his expert eye over.

Claiming the championship was Messrs JC & J White, Rigg Farm with their Limousin cross bullock which later sold for £2500, purchased by the judge Huw Evans.

Reserve Champion was given to DJ Mallon, Pallet Crag Farm for their Limousin cross heifer later selling for £3500 sold to B & T Kitson, Yarm.

Out with the show winners, the sale topper came from regular supporter JC & J White, Rigg Farm with their tremendous British Blue heifer selling for £6000 to P & S Sellers, Lincolnshire. Messrs White sold an impressive run of 21 Bullocks and heifers to average £2532.38. The heifer section averaged £1770.31 which was a massive rise of £501.01 on the year. Bullocks saw a rise of £378.66 on the year to average £1661.67.

A massive ringside of buyers were in attendance, keen to secure show types, breeders and commercial stock, seeing returns for cattle at record levels. This resulted in 25% of the sale selling over £1800.
