Border Beauties Sale of Border Leicester Females

The annual Border Beauties sale of Border Leicesters top at 2500gns for the Springview flock!

Leading the sale today was Robbie Aiken of the Springview flock with this 2^nd prize gimmer, sired by Carnew Special One and out of a homebred ewe. She sold in lamb to Silvermuir Upperclass to Messrs Playfair, Roxburgh.

The pre sale show was judged by Mr Ben Stanley, Park Farm who awarded the Overall Champion to the first prize ewe hogg consigned by Duncan Whyte’s Mearns flock. His pen leader was a Muirmouth Kelso daughter and out of a homebred ewe. She sold to Messrs Stanley, Derbyshire for 1600gns.

The Westforth flock of Tom Tennant features next with his second prize ewe hogg and the Reserve Overall Champion. She is an Alticane Churchill daughter and goes to the Mawson Family, Seascale, Cumbria for 1500gns.

The Playfair family also took a fancy to the Westforth pen of hoggs, securing the 3^rd prize hogg also an Alticane Churchill daughter for 1500gns. They also secured the first prize in lamb gimmer from the Alticane flock for 1400gns. A Westforth William Wallace daughter, carrying a single to Westforth Braveheart.

The top price from John Barrowman’s Knockglass flock was 1400gns, paid for a gimmer by Elsricklemains First look, who sired the Champion lamb at Lanark 203. She is out of a homebred ewe and sold carrying a pair to Westforth Braveheart to Vanish Point Farm, Skipton.

Messrs Vickers, Scarborough gave 1300gns for a gimmer from the Lytham flock of Mr Howie. This one was sired by Slatehill UR The 1, out of a homebred Lammermuir Moonshine daughter. She sold in lamb to Drennan’s Victor.

Next at 1200gns was a hogg from the Mearns flock, sired by the £3600 Muirmouth Kelso, out of a homebred Summerfields Lovejoy daughter to the Palyfair Family, Kelso.
