Borderway Store and Breeding Sheep Sale

On Monday 17th February, Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of store lambs with a larger entry of in lamb sheep being forward.  A show of 400 in lamb sheep were present with included the dispersal on behalf of S K Richardson, Prospect Grange.  This run of 250 first cross Texel ewes went  on to average £256.66 for ewes, topping at £305 for a pen of 15 two shears.  Shearlings topped at £290 for a pen of 5. Aged ewes topped at £280 for a pen of 9 correct sorts.  The same home sold a wonderful run of in lamb ewe lambs which topped at £225 for a pen of 10- scanned twins to the Beltex ram.  Mule sheep were in strong demand with a dispersal on behalf of T & AT Bowman, Brampton Fell taking place.  This run of 63 went on to top at £230 for a pen of 13 two shears.  This run averaged £211.87.

A strong show of store lambs were forward once again with a sale average of £113.93 being achieved. Top price went to a pen of four Beltex lambs from A & J Campbell, Creetown, selling to £154 and their run of 51 averaged £132.80.  Messrs Ireland, Drigg sold a fancy pen of 62 Texel lambs to £125.  Messrs Mounsey, Ashfield sold 18 Dutch Texels to £152 life.
