On Wednesday 19th February, Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of store bulls and weaners in Borderway. A plainer show of 351 forward on the week resulting in an average of £1154.76. A smaller show of 81 bulls were forward with a total sale average of £1123.33 being achieved. Topping the section went to JT & H Inman, Allerbeck selling an Angus bull to £2200. Messrs Simpson, Poole Bank, Troutbeck sold a pen of 8 pure Luing 8 month old bulls to £1080. Stealing the show went to Messrs Cleasby, Linden House who sold 10 Limousin and Charolais bulls to average £1643 topping at £1950. Steers averaged £1250.57 topping at £1750 for a Limousin from W & B Nichol, Lawston whose run of 4 averaged £1562.50. Messrs Bell, Winterhope sold a run of 7 to average £1348.57 for smart Limousin heifers. Messrs Mair, Bargatton sold a run of 20 Charolais steers and heifers to £1242 topping at £1340 for a pen of 7. Heifers topped at £1840 for a Simmental heifers from Clive Houldey, Kirkleton House. Messrs Graham, Laws Hall sold a superb run of 29 Blue and Angus steers and heifers to average £1463.72. Many more are needed.
