Borderway Store and Breeding Sheep Sale

On Monday 3^rd March Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of store lambs and breeding sheep. The Blackfaced dispersal sale on behalf of John Crawford, South Boreland, in which 131 mixed aged ewes al in lamb to BFL averaged £154.01 topping out at £185 for a pen of 19 twins. Dorothy Wearmouth, Parkside sold some fantastic runs of 21 Beltex shearlings inlamb to the Dutch Spotted topping at £315 for 3 all scanned with twins. This run of 21 averaged £268.80. Ewes and Lambs started this week with top price going to £92 per life for Jacob ewes with twin lambs from LJ Wilson, Bridge View. The store lamb numbers start to dry up however those forward met a marvellous trade with an average of £115 being achieved. Topping the sale was a pair of texels from NJ & JM Todhunter, Grayrigg selling to £164. This run went on to average £149.70 for 10. Messrs Mounsey, Wardhall sold a run of 25 Texels to average £140.32 topping at £146 for a pen of 3. Messrs Gate, Low House, Cockermouth sold a pen of 28 mule lambs to sell for £119. D C Houldey, Kirtleton House sold a pen of 40 Blackfaced lambs to £94.50.
