Kirkby Stephen OTM & Cast Cow Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their fortnightly Sale of cast and OTM cattle.

Topping the sale £3010.13 was a six year old Limousin bull which weighed 1047kg and sold for 287.5p/kg from Messrs Owen, Sandwath Farm, Kirkby Stephen.

Messrs Mason, High Green Farm, Middleton in Lonsdale sold a Limousin heifer which weighed 787kg and sold for 368.5p/kg totalling £2900.10 from Messrs Mason, High Green Farm, Middleton in Lonsdale and was purchased by Owain Llyr, Ruthin.

Topping at 389.5p/kg was a 538kg British Blue cross Steer from Messrs Maughan, Ash Garth, Great Asby and was purchased by D Barker, Scarborough.

Messrs Brass, Bridge End Farm, Soulby sold a 722kg British Blue heifer to make 377.5p/kg totalling £2725.55.

Messrs Pedley, Oaktree Farm, Barbon sold a seven year old 725kg British Blue cast cow to make £2664.38 (367.5p/kg) with this home also selling a 690kg five year old British Blue cow to make £2535.75 (367.5p/kg)

Topping the dairy section at 317.5p/kg and £2006.60 was a 632kg Holstein from Messrs Chippendale, Wharton Hall.

Fleckvieh heifers sold to £2370.13 for a 686kg which made 345.5p/kg from Messrs Chippendale, Wharton Hall.

A eight year old Holstein cow weighing 850kg sold to make £1610.75 (189.5p/kg) from Messrs Hastwell, The Buildings Farm, Kaber.

Messrs Beck, Townfoot, Tebay sold a six year old Frisian cow weighing 745kg to make 214.5p/kg totalling £1598.03.

Trade for all classes of beef and dairy cows was off the clock and dearest seen to date here at Kirkby Stephen!

An overall sale average of a whopping 271.18p/kg and £1887.87 was achieved!!

The next sale of cast cows at Kirkby Stephen will be held on Monday 17^th March.
