On Wednesday 5th March, Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of store bulls and weaners in Borderway.
Another show of over 300 were once again met with a strong trade throughout, with bulls being described as much dearer on the week.
A total of 74 bulls were forward to average £1172.43 with a top price going to an Aberdeen Angus from EB Lishman, Hexham who sold a 17 month old to £2210. Messrs Slack, Cockley Bank sold a run of 9 & 10 month old Aberdeen Angus bulls with 16 to average £1375. Messrs Armstrong, Terrance Farm sold four 9 month old bulls to average £1792.50 topping at £2010 for a single.
Steers went on to average £1115.68 topping at £1780 from Messrs Shuttleworth, Dumfries for an Aberdeen Angus steer. Arbrack Farms had a wonderful run of 21 British Blue and Aberdeen Angus steers, topping at £1390 for a pen of 4 steers. The same home sold 9 Aberdeen Angus steers 7 months to £1220.
Heifers topped at £1900 from J Warbeck, Sark Tower for 21 month old Charolais. This run went on to average £1640 for a pen of four. Messrs Dent, Beamwham sold seven 7&8 month old Limousin heifers to average £1351.43. Messrs Whitfield, Baty Shield sold six 8 month old Limousin beef bred calves to average £1310.
