Borderway Store and Breeding Sheep Sale

On Monday 10^th March Harrison and Hetherington had a smaller offering of 264 store and breeding sheep at their weekly sale.  Demand for all classes found extreme rates.

Shearling gimmers with lambs sold to £195 for a Texel cross with a Dutch Spotted Ewe lamb at foot from Ioan Jones, Greenbank. In lamb ewes sold to £230 three times from W Bell, Waterloo, Greenhead. Ewes with lambs at foot sold to £180/life for a pair of Suffolk ewes with single Texel cross lambs at foot from Grant Hurcomb, Bankhead, Stranraer.  His consignment of 29 ewes with lambs went on to average £164/life.

Store hoggs were a big trade once again topping at £160 for a pen of 4 Beltex from JJ & MC Baxter, Moss Side, Hethersgill.  Texels sold to £142 from JF Bowe & Sons, Foulsyke, Silloth.  N & BM Ireland, New House, Drigg sold a pen of 37 Texel x Herdwicks to £129.  B & P Wheatley & Son, Home Farm, sold a pen of 41 long keep Texel crosses to £125.  W Cowx & Son, Town End sold a pen of 25 long keep Mules to £114.
