Borderway Weaned Cattle Sale

On Wednesday 12^th March, Harrison and Hetherington held their Special Spring Stirk-Tacular Sale kindly sponsored by Agri-King.

A total of 467 bulls and stirks came forward and were met with a superb trade from start to finish. The quality of cattle in Ring 4 has never witnessed before, with a larger proportion of the sale being Beef bred calves.

A total of 125 bulls were forward to average £1633.84. A wonderful show of Beef bred bulls sold to a top of £2780 for a 14m Limousin from J & RE Marston, Easegill Head. Messrs Gilleard, Thorninghurst run of 18 Limousin and Charolais 12m bulls averaged £2257, topping at £2450. The same home sold a pen of 3 Charolais to £2430. Messrs Wigham, Hargill House sold a run of 7 Limousin bulls to £2060 for a pen of 4. Messrs Gill, Moory Lea sold a British Blue 9 month old bull for £2200. Messrs Hayward, Fell House sold a run of 5 Aberdeen Angus bulls to average £2272 topping at £2640.

Steers were simply electric from start to finish,averaging £1405.90 for 134 forward. Topping at £2380 from Messrs Hughes, Dona Close, who sold 4 to average £2175. Mr Hall, Lanerton sold a superb run of 14 8/9 month old. Steers and heifers sold to average £1515, topping at £1610 for a pair. Mr Neil Hardisty, How Hall, run of 8 average £1808 and topped at £1880. Messrs Bird, High Wreay sold 10 Limousin steers to average £1617.

Heifers averaged £1343.38 for 207 and topped at £2750 for a pair of exquisite British Blue cross 10 month old heifers from N & K Gill, Moory Lea who sold 11 to average £2022. Messrs Dale-Sunley, Airds of Balcary sold 9 Charolais heifers to average £1550. Alistair Vanvce, Bridgehouse sold 7 superb Limousin steers and heifers to average £1811, topping at £1980 for a superb cow maker.
