Kirkby Stephen Prime Sheep Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their weekly Sale of Prime Sheep on Tuesday evening when 2,910 sheep were forward consisting of 2,502 prime hoggs and 408 Cast Sheep. 

Topping the sale at £229 where a pen of fourteen 40kg (572.5p/kg) Beltex cross hoggs from JoJo Andrews, Boscar Flats, York. With this good home also selling a pen of seventeen 40kg to make £226.50 (566.3p/kg), a pen of ten 41kg making £221 (539p/kg), a pen of seventeen 40kg at £215 (537.5p/kg) and 53kg to make £215.

The consignment of 87 shapley well fed hoggs from JoJo sold to average 40.8kg £218.40 (535.1p/kg).

Messrs Simpson, Highscale Farm, Wigglesworth topped at 589.5p/kg for a pen of nineteen 38kg hoggs which made £224. This home also sold a pen of twelve 39kg hoggs to make £220.50 (565.4p/kg) a pen of seven 40kg at £219 (547.5p/kg).

Messrs Brown, Claughton Hall Farm, Lancaster sold 40kg Beltex cross hoggs to make £225 (562.5p/kg).

Messrs Hunter, Upper Brydekirk, Annan sold a pen of twelve 41kg Texel cross hoggs to make £225 (548.8p/kg).

This home also sold a pen of twenty three 41kg hoggs to make £220 (536.6p/kg).

Messrs Elliott, Espland House, Penrith sold a pair of 52kg to make £220, with a pen of four 40kg making £215 (537.5p/kg).

Suffolk cross hoggs sold to £194 (373.1p/kg) for 52kg hoggs from Messrs Danby, Lower Leazes Farm, St Helens.

Hill Cheviot hoggs sold to £164 (372.7p/kg) for a pen of twenty three 44kg from Hayllar Farms, Helbeck Grange, Brough.

Messrs Armstrong, Crossfell House, Milburn sold a pen of eighteen 41kg Hill Cheviot hoggs to make £157.50 (384.1p/kg).

Mule hoggs sold to 323.9p/kg for a pen of eighteen 44kg which made £142.50 from Hayllar Farms, with this home also selling a pen of eighteen 46kg mules to make £148 (321.7p/kg)

Messrs Lawson, Pasture House Farm, Wigton sold a pen of twenty five 49kg Mules to make £154, with another pen of twenty five 48kg making £152 from this home.

Todholes Partnership, Elsdon sold a pen of twenty four 57kg Mules to make £156.

Swaledale hoggs sold to £155 for 56kg hoggs from Messrs Green, Hill Farm, Alston with this home also selling a pen of eleven 49kg to make £154 and a pen of sixteen 46kg Swaledales making £149 (323.9p/kg)
