On Wednesday 19th March Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of 408 store cattle and a great show of good quality stores were on offer. More smaller cattle were present throughout and still unbelievably saw a record weekly overall average of £2008 for all breeds. Continental Steers averaged a whooping £2152.65 and heifers £1957.53. All dairy breed steers averaged £1737.84. 100 head sold over £2200 with 30 of these being heifers, 56 steers sold over £2300 to a days overall top of £2820 for a 21 month old Limousin cross heifer from Messrs Dobson, East View, Carlisle. Next best at £2700 was another Limousin cross from Messrs Mounsey, Wardhall Guards, Wigton. Steers peaked at £2680 for a 22 month old Aberdeen Angus cross from Messrs Palmer, Longrigg Thorn, Carlisle and the same price for a 22 month old Simmental cross from Messrs Horn, Barton Dale, Penrith. Best Limousin was from Messrs Bowman, Croft House, Penrith selling to £2620.
Black and whites sold to £2540 for a Montbelairde from Messrs Magnay, Greenwrae, Gretna and to £1860 for Holstein from Messrs Wilson, Hardrigg Hall, Penrith. Holstein Friesian heifers from Messrs Graham, Stubbyknowe, Gretna sold to £1870
