On Wednesday 19th March, Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of weaned bulls and stirks with another solid entry of 350 head. A plainer show was witnessed with more dairy bred sorts forward. All classes were good to sell ensuring vendors leaving delighted once again.
A smaller show of 85 store bulls sold to £2500 for a tremendous well bred 11 month Limousin from E Telfer & Son, Newton High House, Stocksfield. The same good home sold another 10 month bull to £2160. Simmental bulls sold to £1860 for a pair of 11 months from JM & J Goldie, Newbie Mains, Annan. Charolais bulls sold to £1850 for a 12 month old from W C Bell, Low Houses, Low Row. M Reid & Sons, Fulton, Waterbeck sold a pen of 5 Angus bulls to £1610. Dairy bred British Blue bulls sold to £1540 form Chalkside Farming, Wigton. GE & M Richardson, Bedrule sold a pen of six, 5 month old Dairy bred bulls to £950.
Weanling cattle were a dream to sell with natural grazing types sharper on the week. Bullocks topped at £1800 for a Simmental cross from TW Bulman & Son, Burn House, Hexham. J Browell & Sons, Quarry House, Thockrington sold 9 month Limousin bullocks to £1710. T N Cowan, The Ash, Roadhead sold a smart run of Limousin cattle topping at £1700 for a 10 month from PS Tindale, Wydon Eals, Haltwhistle. 9 month Charolais bullocks sold to £1400 for a pen of 3 from Ian Cooper, Crailloch, Newton Stewart. P Storr, 8 Abbots Close sold a pen of 5 11 month Dairy bred British Blue bullocks to £1280. Arbrack Farming, Whithorn sold a pen of 6 - 7 month old Dairy bred Angus bullocks to £1060. W P Callender & Co, Crofthead, Crocketford sold a pen of three 8 month Dairy bred Limousin bullocks to £1000.
Heifers topped at £1780 for a Limousin cross from Wydon Eals, Haltwhistle. Yearling Limousin Heifers sold to £1680 from J Browell & Sons, Quarry House. Messrs Fletcher, Wickness, Dalton sold 7 month Charolais heifer to £1580. 10 month Limousin heifers sold to £1540 from the Ash, Roadhead and £1520 from Braithwaite New Farm, Keswick. AS & CE Coulthard, Justicetown sold a pen of 3 yearling Blue heifers to £1490 and a pen of 3 Angus heifers to the same price. 11 month Montbelairde heifers sold to £1200 for a pen of 4 from C Dent, Bridge End, Kirkby Thore. Arbrack Farming Co sold a pair of 8 month Dairy bred British Blue heifers to £1100.
