SALE OF WEANED CATTLE

WEDNESDAY 26th MARCH 2025

On Wednesday 26th March, Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of 371 weaned bulls and stirks. Trade was flying from the offset with 20% of the sale selling for over £1500. A good entry of 70 young bulls attracted a strong ringside of buyers for all shaped and sizes. Topping the sale was an outstanding 11 month Charolais from Chris Timm, West Farm, Pickering selling for £2620. The same home sold 11 month Aberdeen Angus Bulls to £2410. AR Lawson & Son, South Farm. Hallington sold a 10 month old Aberdeen Angus Bull to £2130, 7 month old Limousin Bulls sold to £1580 from JG W Dodds, Keepershield, Humshaugh and £1510 from RJ & L Hall, Waltown, Greenhead.

Weanling cattle a great trade once again with dairy bred types £50 - £80 dearer on the week. Topping the sale at £2060 was a tracking 12 month Charolais heifer from AJ Stott, Shaw Head, Easton. RR Reay & Sons, West Moorhouses sold a 12 month Limousin Heifer to £2000. The same home sold 9 10 month old British Blue Heifers to £1880. Simmental Heifers sold to £1840 from CR Ford, High Roosebeck, Ulverston. Dairy bred Blue heifers sold to £1840 for a paid from A C Telfer, High House, Whitehaven. Yearling Charolais heifers sold to £1640 from DJ & SD Dale-Sunley, Ross Farm, Borgue.

Bullocks topped at £1980 for a Charolais cross from Paul Stobart, The Square, Kirklinton. Dairy bred British Blues sold to £1780 from D Swan, Barn Croft, Wigton. Brian Maltas Farms, Hunterbeck, Moffat sold a pair of 9 month old Charolais to £1710, JP Routledge & son, Netherton sold an outstanding run of 10 month old Aberdeen Angus bullocks selling a pen of 3 to £1580 and a pen of 4 to £1420 and a pen of 5 to £1410 with there final pen of 5 selling to £1400. D Watson, Parceltown, Longtown sold a pen of 4 10month old Limousin bullocks to £1570. K Wilson, Blue Gables sold a 9 month Limousin to £1560. WP Callender & Co Crofthead sold a pen of 3 8month dairy bred Aberdeen Angus bullocks to £1160. A pen of 3 Limousin crosses to £1160.
