SALE OF WEANED CATTLE
WEDNESDAY 2ND APRIL 2025
On Wednesday 2nd April, Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of weaned bulls and striks in Ring 4 at Borderway. A smaller show on the week was forward with 275 forward and a total sale average of £1410.58 being achieved. A show of 58 bulls were included to average £1691.03 topping at £3470 for a pedigree Limousin bull from JH Quine, Isle of Man. The same home sold a Charolais to £2960 and another Limousin to £2190 for his run to average £2873.33. Messrs Jewitt, Gracies Farm sold a British Blue bull to £2980 to £2980 for a 13 month. Messrs Elliot, Roxburgh sold a pen of 5 Aberdeen Angus bulls 11month old to £1660. Messrs Hunter, Bainshole made the long trip to Borderway from Aberdeen bringing 4 Limousin bulls down to average £2420 topping at £2760 for a 13month old. Weaned steers went on to average £1359.45 topping at £2040 for a Highlander from Auchengray Farm, Dumfries. This run of 3 averaged £1786.67. Aberdeen Angus steers peaked at £1980 from GS Scott, Bleabank whose run of 6 averaged £1705. Craig Routledge, Netherton sold 17 British Blue steers to average £1400 topping at £1560 for a pen of 3. Heifers topped at £2280 for a pure Charolais from WJB Cleasby, Linden House who sold 5 to average £2036 for 12 months old. Aberdeen Angus heifers topped at £1870 from G A Common, Belsay. Limousins at £1800 from Ian Watson, Beech House who sold 11 to average £1638.18. The Dale-Sunley Family regular consignors made the trip with 17 12 month old Charolais heifers going on to average £1683 topping at £2170 for superb grazing cattle. Messrs Coulthard Justicetown sold 6 Aberdeen Angus and British Blue heifers all dairy bred to top at £1720 ad average £1658.33.
Many more could be handled with buyers travelling from all corners of the UK.
