On Wednesday 9th April Harrison & Hetherington sold 718 store cattle, so brisk was the trade time seemed to stand still as these were easily dispatched in 3 hours to post an incredible average of £2108.97 with the top 6 bullocks all selling over £3000 with local vendors Messrs Roper, Knowehill, Wigton selling Salers to £3150 seeing Messrs Gent, Brecks Farm Newark match this price with Limousins , Charolais topped at £3080 for a great bullock from Messrs Udale Sideways Banks, a pen of 10 Hereford x Friesians sold at £2750 from Messrs Miller, Scale Hill, Penrith , with dairy breeds to £2750 for Fleckvieh from Messrs Mason, Bank Farm Penrith.
A plainer offering of Heifers sold to £2820 for a Limousin x Friesian from Messrs Wilson, Blackrigg Farm.
Many more cattle are required week on week with Borderway streets ahead of the surrounding area in terms of returns, some vendors this week saw their annual runs lifting between £650 and £860 on the year!!
