On Monday 14th April Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of store and breeding sheep.

BREEDING SHEEP: An outstanding show of ewes and lambs were forward today and matched with the trade they deserve. Today’s sale topped at £166 twice, firstly for 2 Suffolk ewes with twin lambs from Messrs Whiteford, Tercrosset, with the same consignor then selling a single Texel ewe and lamb at the same price.

The next best of £160 was paid for a Charollais ewe with a single lamb from the same good home. Mules sold to £127 for 2 Ewes with singles from Messrs Pigg, Gaitsgill. Beltex ewes with twins sold to £126 from Messrs Bell, Birniehall.

A small show of hoggs and lambs were on offer and topped at £126 for a pair of ewes with singles from Messrs Armstrong, Bromfield.

STORE HOGGS: Again another small show of hoggs were forward, however sold to a good trade. Topping the sale at £136 for a pen of 4 Texels from Messrs Story, Stoneknowe. Messrs Thexton, Hazel Cottage followed them at £132 again for Texels. Mules sold to £120 from Messrs Story, Stoneknowe.
