On Wednesday 16th April, Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of weaned bulls and stirks in Ring 4 at Borderway.
A tremendous entry of all shapes and sizes attracted a strong ringside of buyers fit to handle numbers. A good entry of 155 store bulls, selling to a top of £2520 twice for pure Limousins from Messrs Eve & Son, Stubsgill, Aspatria. N & K Gill, Moorly Lea sold an 11 month Limousin to £2300. JC & SE Little, The Guards sold a smart Limousin yearling to £2280 Dairy bred Blue bulls sold to £2120 from TS Brass, Espland. RJ & AY Armstrong, Terrace Farm sold a pair of 9 month old Limousin to £2080. Holstein Friesian bulls sold to £1760 from Espland.
A great entry of 352 stirks topped at £2280 for a 13 month Limousin bullock and to £2140 from W Hughes, Donna Close. Messrs Elliott, Hallburn Croft sold a 12 month old to £1960. JS & JA Bird, High Wreay sold a 10 month old Limousin bullock for £1920. Dennis Cadzow & Co, Duncranhill sold a pen of 6 Limousin yearling bullocks to £1880. Simmental bullocks topped at £1800 for 9 month olds from Auchengray Farms.
Messrs Armstrong, Shankfield Head sold a Limousin cross heifer for £2180 and Messrs Little, The Guards sold three 12 month old Limousin cross heifers for £2020. Messrs Murchie Ltd, Gullielands Farm sold the top priced Aberdeen Angus heifer for £1820. Messrs Armstrong, Terrace Farm run of Limousin cross heifers topped at £1840 for a 10 month old. Messrs Elliott, Hallburn Croft sold 12 month old Limousin cross heifers for £1840.
Many more could be handled with buyers travelling from all corners of the UK.
