At Borderway Mart on Monday 10th May, Harrison & Hetherington held their annual show and sale of shearlings & hoggs with lambs at foot.
A large show of over 1200 ewes and lambs at foot were forward for Mr Adam Bell, Thethwaite, Raughton Head, to cast his expert eye over. He awarded the Champion Continental pen to Messrs Fell, Harley Croft, Torpenhow for the second consecutive year, who also received the Harry Fisher Memorial Trophy for his pen of Texel cross Beltex hoggs and lambs, selling to £175 per life.

Messrs Carr, Little Bavington achieved 2nd prize for his pen of Beltex cross hoggs selling to £164 and Mr Kallum Hunt, Braithwaite Shields pen of Texel cross hoggs took 3rd prize and later sold to £142 per head.
Topping the trade overall was the first prize single unit which was awarded to Messrs Carr, Little Bavington, for a Beltex hogg and lamb which sold for £190 per head. Messrs Fell took second place with his unit selling for £180.
Messrs Taylor, The Harras won the Suffolk class, which sold to a top of £156 for his run of 40 hoggs and lambs.
Taking the first place Mule hoggs and also the Ernie Nixon Memorial Trophy was Messrs Ridsdale, Yew Tree with his pen of 10 hoggs and lambs which sold to £130 per head.

Outwith the show other Mule hoggs with twin lambs sold to £96 per head from Mesrs Middleton, Stone House, resulting up at £288 per unit.
The entire entry of 647 hoggs and lambs everaged £124.81 for all breeds, which includes twin units.
