On Wednesday 23rd April, Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of weaned bulls and stirks.
Store bulls break Ring 4 records with T & C Todd, Wyndham House selling a 14 month Fleckvieh bull, from top quality maternal genetics for £3500 and going to a new home for breeding at Messrs Davies & Co, Castle Douglas.
A smaller offering of 55 store bulls averaged £1582 and saw Limousins top at £2230 for a 12 month old cracker from R Wallace & Co, Mains of Collin, Auchencairn. Simmentals topped at £1920 for a pair of 9 month olds from JM & J Goldie, Newbie Mains, Annan. Dairy bred Blue bulls sold to £1760 from DBD & CA Edgar, Fellside, Ousby. ME & JJ Fell, Stanger Hill sold a 10 month old Limousin to £1890.
A good offering of weaning cattle sold to £2750 for an outstanding yearling Limousin heifer from W & B Nichol, Lawston, Newcastleton. Simmental heifers to £2130 from TG & SM Tallentire, High Griseburn. R Wallace & Co, Mains of Collin sold an outstanding pen of 3 yearling Limosuin bullocks to £2040. J Browell & Sons, Quarry House, Hexham sold a pair of yearling Limousin heifers to £1940, this price was matched again for a Black Limousin from Messrs Lawston, Newcastleton.
Brin Maltas, Hunterbeck sold an outstanding 8 month old Charolais bullock to £1830. Yearling Aberdeen Angus bullocks to £1740 from B Stewart, Barmore, Stranraer and to £1730 from IR Armstrong, Shankfield Head, Hethersgill.
Dairy bred Aberdeen Angus bullocks sold to £1670 for a pen of seven 14 month olds from RI & M Bell, Aigle Gill, Aspatria. TW Armstrong, Broomhills sold a great pen of 5 dairy bred Limousin bullocks only 10 month old to £1470. Dairy bred British Blue heifers sold to £1840 from AC Telfer, High House, Rottington. WJB Cleasby, Linden House, Temple Sowerby sold a great pen of 5 well shaped natural grazing Limousin heifers to £1630. RR & L Beaty, Newton Field, Allonby sold a pen of for 14 month old Dairy bred Limousin heifers to £1660.
