Borderway May Show and Sale of Ewes and Lambs

On Monday 5^th May Harrison and Hetherington conducted a show and sale of ewes and hoggs with lambs at foot. An outstanding show of quality, young sheep sold exceptionally well yet older splitting outfits were harder to cash on the week due to the dry weather.

Topping the sale at £275 per life (£550 per outfit) were an exceptional Beltex hogg with single Beltex lamb from Messrs DJ Livingstone, Kirtlevale, Gretna. The same good home also sold 2 pens of 5 Beltex hoggs with Beltex lambs at foot to £260 per life. Messrs Livingstone sold 55 outfits to average £224 per life.

The pre sale show was aptly judged by Mr Thomas Wilson, Wood Farm, who awarded the Champion rosette to a pen of 5 Continental ewe hoggs with Beltex lambs from TC whiteford, Tercrosset selling for £205 per life.

Reserve Champion pen went to a pen of 5 Suffolk hoggs with Texel/Beltex lambs from Evening Hill Farm Ltd, Thursby selling for £182 per life.
