On Wednesday 7th May, Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sales of weaned cattle. A total of 460 were forward to a mixed show, with grazing cattle and stronger sorts short of requirements.
A much smaller show of 70 bulls were forward with a much younger offering forward. Topping today’s trade was a Charolais from Messrs Dale-Sunley, Ross Farm which sold to £1890, his run of 6 averaged £1566.67. Mr Ian Bell, Hallbankgate sold a year Saler bull to £1650. Messrs Pearson, The Fauld sold 2 Limousin 12 month olds to £1780.
Steers averaged £1346.50 with a top price going to Messrs Maughan, Asby Mill to £1900 for a British Blue. This run of Aberdeen Angus steers sold to £1890 and sold to average £1721.43. Stuart Whitfield, Batey shield sold Limousin steers to £1690 and sold 10 to average £1572.
Heifers average £1188.88 with a top price going to a pen of 3 from Eric Norman, Little Orton to £2080 for 12 month olds. This run of 4 averaged £1955. Messrs Tindale, Wydon Eals Farm sold a run of 33 Aberdeen Angus and Limousin heifers to average £1303 topping at £1580 for a single. Mr Craig Routledge, Netherton sold 29 British Blue and Aberdeen Angus heifers to average £1196.90 and top at £1640.
