Borderway Store and Breeding Sheep Sale

On Monday 12^th May Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of ewes and hoggs with lambs at foot which saw the strongest trade this year with buyers going up a gear again achieving a sale average of £133/life.  Topping the sale at £190/life was an outstanding Dutch Texel shearling with Beltex lamb at foot from Tom Howard, Lees Hall, Haltwhistle.  Hoggs with lambs sold to £182/life for a pair of Texel crosses with single lambs from Ramsey Ltd, Dockray Hall, Wigton selling others to £178/life twice and £172/life.  Suffolk hoggs with single lambs sold to £170 /life from Smith and Shepherd, Glebelands, Appleby.   JE Gargett, Ainstable sold a trio of Blue Texel shearling with pure lambs at foot to £180/life.  3 Shear Texels with lambs sold to £175 /life from Dan Charnock Millholme.  J Stephenson & Son, West Mill Hills, Hayden Bridge sold a pen of 9 Texel x Cheviot shearling with twin Texel lambs at foot for £142/life.  Mules were sharper on the week, topping at £138/life for aged ewes from Dan Charnock.  RH & EM Lord, The Bog, Slaggyford sold 4 crop Mule ewes with twins to £132/life.  A & N Spedding, Stone Flatts sold a pen of 10 Mule ewes with twins to £130/life.

Many more could have been sold today as numbers were well short of buyers requirements.
