Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart, held their annual New Fair Prize Show and Sale of Breeding outfits.
Topping the sale at £190 per life and £380 per outfit were Blue Texel hogg with lamb at foot from Messrs Pedley, High Ploughlands, Little Musgrave which was purchased by Messrs Rutherford, Weardale.
The champion pen of continental hoggs was awarded to a pen of Texel cross hoggs with lambs at foot from Messrs Whiteford, Tercrosset, Brampton which went on to sell for £180. With this home also selling the third prize pen of continental hoggs with lambs at foot to make £176 per lift and £352 per outfit. This home also sold a pen of Dutch Spotted hoggs with lambs at foot to make £162 (£324 per outfit)
Messrs Dixon, Hartley Castle, Kirkby Stephen sold two pens of Texel cross Mule hoggs with lambs at foot to make £175 per head and £350 per outfit both selling to Messrs Steel, Low Hall, Little Musgrave.
Badgerfaced Texel ewes with lambs sold to £158 per lift (£316 per outfit) from Messrs Brown, Mount Pleasant Farm, Bowes.
Swaledales ewes with lambs topped at £162 per life (£324 per outfit) for a pen of 4 shear and the second prize from Messrs Sayer, Musgrave House, Great Musgrave which were purchased by Messrs Dixon, Grange over Sands.
Messrs Nicholson, Slip Cottage, Barras sold the first placed Swaledale ewes with lambs at foot to make £134 per head and £268 per outfit to Messrs Cook, Witherslack.
The Third placed Swaledales was awarded to Messrs Armstrong, Ghyll Croft, Carlisle pen of 5 ewes with twin lambs at foot to make £132 per lift (£396 per outfit) selling to Messrs Wharton, Murton.
