Kirkby Stephen Annual Sale of Breeding Cattle

Harrison & Hetherington, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their annual May Sale of Beef Breeding cattle.

The sale topped at £4400 for a Limousin heifer with a Limousin Heifer calf at foot from Messrs Hird, Crackpot Farm, Low Row and was purchased by Messrs Richardson, Richmond.

Next highest price at £4200 was a Limousin heifer with calf at foot from Lauren Swift, Dry Howe, Kendal selling to Messrs Watson, Stoney Hill, Barnard Castle.

Next in line at £4100 was a Limousin cross heifer with Limousin heifer calf at foot from Messrs Ousby, Bents Farm, Newbiggin on Lune purchased by Messrs Sawyer, York.

Messrs Beck, Barugh House, Tebay sold a home bred Limousin cross Friesian heifer with Limousin bull calf at foot to make £4000 selling to Messrs Beckwith, Newhall, Barras.

Messrs Capstick, Lockholme Hall, Ravenstonedale also sold a homebred Limousin cross Friesian heifer with heifer calf at foot to also make £4000 selling to Messrs Moore, High Side, Haltwhistle.

Messrs Fawcett, Fold House Farm, Skipton on his first journey to Kirkby Stephen selling beef breeding cattle sold an Aberdeen Angus heifer with Limousin heifer calf at foot to make £3950 selling to Messrs Cowperthwaite, Howith Farm, Austwick.

Messrs Elliott, Bank House. Mungrisedale sold a Limousin cross dairy bred heifer with Limousin heifer calf at foot to make £3900 to Messrs Wallis, Park Top Farm, Richmond.

Messrs Ousby, Bents sold a British blue cross heifer with a heifer calf at foot to make £3900 to Messrs Beckwith, New Hall.

Messrs Robinson, Prospect Farm, Waitby sold another British Blue cross heifer with calf at foot to make £3900 selling to Messrs Phillipson, Glebe Farm, Penrith.

A packed ring side of potential buyers were present with many leaving empty handed which resulted in a flying trade with an overall sale average of £3525. Being up £500.73 on the year.
