Kirkby Stephen OTM and Cast Cow Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their fortnightly Sale of cast and OTM cattle.

Topping the cast cows at £3174.08 was a 832kg British Blue cow which sold for 381.5p/kg from Messrs Brannen, scar Top, Penrith.

Messrs Tiplady, Red House Farm, Barnard Castle sold a 725kg British Blue cow to make 379.5p/kg totalling £2751.38. With this home also selling a 730kg bb cow to make 359.5p/kg and £2624.35.

Limousin cows topped at £2719.02 from Messrs Mason, High Green, Middleton in Lonsdale.

Limousin cows also topped at 374.5p/kg from Messrs Steele, Palliard, North Stainmore

Messrs Huck, Church Farm, Skipton sold a 757kg Limousin cross cow to make £351.5p/kg and £2660.86.

Dairy cows topped at £1939.70 and 297.5p/kg for a Frisian from Messrs Atkinson, Waitby Farm, Waitby.

Messrs Chappelhow, Beckstones, Newbiggin on Lune sold a 782kg Frisian cow to make £1888.53 (241.5p/kg).

Messrs Ewin, Black Syke sold a Holstein Frisian heifer weighing 565kg to make £1748.68 (309.5p/kg).

All trade was flying once again with an overall sale average of 280.65p/kg £1830.34.

All Limousin cross cow forward sold to average £2290.15 (330.3p/kg)

All British Blue cross forward sold to average £2226.50 (337.6p)
