SEISME SHINES FOR KINGSCAIRD
Milkers average £3166
The May Border & Lakeland Sale was one of the best consignments of heifers Borderway has had for some time. The catalogue was packed with excellent pedigrees with outstanding production, confirmation and massive lifetime production. Trade topped at 3,500gns on two occasions to average £3166 with no heifers selling below £2500.
The show was sponsored by Paragon Veterinary Group and was judged by Ryan Mcpherson from the Quantum Holstein herd near Carlisle. The Champion went to Kingscaird Summerfest Seisme who was consigned by Peter Kemp from Aberdeen. Seisme was sired by Summerfest and was bred from a super line going back to the famous Supra cow family that helped establish the famous Blondin herd in Quebec. Her sixth dam was the two time World Dairy Expo Red & white Champion Blondin Redman Seisme EX97. Seisme sold for 3,100gns to David Coulthurst from Preston.

Standing Reserve Champion was Ploughlands Lugnut Joan from the Gillespie family of High Ploughlands who sold for 2,850gns going to the Brough family from Seathill Farms near Brampton. She was sired by Westcoast Lugnut and bred from an impressive cow family. Another four heifers from the Ploughlands herd sold to average over £3000.

Topping the sale at 3,500gns was Dunnderdale Redcarpet Pretzel who was consigned by Steven Boow from West Cumbria. She was an awesome uddered heifer with show style and was purchased by David Coulthurst from Preston.
Also selling for 3,500gns was Lesmay Tropic Patent who was consigned by the Wea therup family from Fife. This silky hided powerful framed black heifer was giving 45kgs and was bred from three Very Goods dams all with massive production. She was bought by the Sommerville family from Dumfries. The Weatherup family sold ten heifers to average £3370 including the highest yielding heifer in the sale, Lesmay MS Janice for 3,450gns was giving 52kgs.
The next dairy sale at Borderway takes place on Friday 30th May and features 142 pedigree Ayrshire cattle in the High Mark dispersal sale on behalf of the Watson family. On the Wednesday 4th June, the Borderway Monthly Dairy Day has 400 dairy cattle comprising freshly calved cows and heifers, dry cows, in calf heifers and bulling heifers.
