Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 28th May Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of 386 calves.  An ever growing ringside continued to ensure trade to the end.  Records were smashed twice, with Blencogo House Farms, Wigton selling to £1180 for a 4 month Blue bull and £1080 for a Charolais bull at the same age.

CJ & VM Gillespie sold a 2 month Charolais bull at £905.  Bluestone Farming had a fantastic run of calves selling to £900 for a 3 month Blue bull with others to £890.  They also had a 2 month at £880.  WE & DM Hill & Son, Wigton sold a Blue at £870.  Messrs Gillespie, High Ploughlands sold a 2 month Charolais bull to £850.  RJ & DI Cathers, Stannock, Newton Stewart sold a 2 month Blue bull to £840.

TW Martin, Tempest Tower sold a 2 month Blue at £840.  They also had them at £830 and £810.  D & M Irving Farming, Wigton sold Limousin bulls to £820.  Messrs Reed, Mosside, Wigton sold Angus bulls to £815.  K Saunderson, Graden sold a 1 month Simmental bull to £750.

Heifers topped at £970 from Blencogo House, Wigton.  Bluestone Farming sold a 2 month Blue heifer to £850.  D & M Irving, Wigton sold Limousin heifers to £840.  RG & MJ Farish, East Farm, Wigton sold a 21 month Blue heifer to £795.  CJ & VM Gillespie, High Ploughlands had a pair of 2 month Charolais heifers at £780.

Black and whites sold to £620 from Evening Hill Farming,  they also sold a pair to £610.  Regular supportors, A & AE Harrison, Rounghill, Wigton had a great run of Holstein Friesians to £610 at 2 months.  They averaged £427.95 for 22 head.
