On Wednesday 28th May, Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sales of weaned cattle with an entry of 284 bulls and stirks within Ring 4. A mixed show was forward with a slighter lesser average on the week with the stronger end stirks slightly easier with long keep stirks still returning high rates. A smaller show of 64 bulls were forward with a very dairy led section. Topping the bulls went to TA Horn, Great Asby selling a 12 month Limousin bull to £1990, he also sold another to £1930. First time vendor Messrs Dickie, Carco Farm sold two 13 month old Beef Shorthorn bulls to £1970. Messrs Robinson, Pelutho Park brought 6 Friesian bulls 9/10 months to average £1180 topping at £1230. Messrs Mitchell, Grassknop sold six Holstein bulls same age to sell for £980.
A steer average of £1224.33 was achieved topping at £1820 for a Limousin from W Hughes & Son, Dona Close selling 5 to average £1732. The same home also topped the heifers with a Limousin to £2130. JD Hetherington, Blue Dial sold five Charolais steers and heifers to average £1464 at 16 months of age. Messrs Hetherington, West Moor End sold ten 9 month Limousin heifers and steers to average £1176. Stuart Whitfield, Batey Shield sold eight Limousins steers and heifers to average £1308.75 aged 8/9 months.
