PRIME BULLS: A great entry of 93 prime bulls forward at Borderway weekly Primestock sale whereby plainer and middle quality Bulls sold very well, and the best quality sorts were less than last weeks. Topping overall at £3558.12 was a 30mth old Limousin weighing at 894kg and selling to 398ppkg from Messrs Gracie & Sons, Byre Burnside, Canonbie. Messrs Scott, Dalton Hook, Lockerbie sold a 19mth old Limousin weighing 857kg to £3428. Charolais to £3138.54 for 867kgs from Messrs Wood, Waters Farm, Penrith. Top overall price per kilo of 426 went to a 775kg Limousin form MERS Wilson, Bankdale, Carlise Selling to Bowlands Foods, Preston. Messrs Scott Dalton Hook, Lockerbie to 418ppkg for 681kg and Messrs Rome, Niven Hill, Gretna to 414ppkg for 667kg. Black + White Bulls sold to a top of £2211 for 737kg Holstein Friesian form Messrs Salkeld, South View and £1923.90 for a 605kg Friesian form Messrs Dickinson, High House, Wigton. A top price per kilo of 320 went to a 617kg Holstein Friesian form Messrs Salked, South View.

PRIME CATTLE:  Yet another good entry of 74 prime steers and heifers forward of the Borderway weekly sale. A slight ease again off last week’s trade in this section today, despite this a full ringside of active bidders were evident and there are still plenty demands. Topping the sale overall was a 33mth old blonde cross steer weighing 812kgs from the Robinsons of Maryshield, Newcastle at £3004.40. Next best was 846kg Limousin Cross from weekly venders Messrs Miller, Arkleby Hall, Wigton achieving £2977.92 best Simmental cross also came form Arkleby Hall with 767kg Selling to £2799.55.  Top price per kilo of 402 was attained twice and a best occasion by Messrs Bowe, Bothel Parks, Wigton firstly for 649kg and secondly for 641kg both purchased by A&D Meats, Messrs Bowe also sold best British Blue cross to 400ppkg for 675kg. Heifers were topped by Messrs Pearson Plasket Lands, Maryport with a 725kg Limousin Cross selling to £2871 to Bowland Foods, Preston. Messrs Studholme, Nealhouse sold the next best at £2813 for 725kg to Pioneer Foods, Carlisle . Messrs Watson travelled from Bowsden Moor Farm, Berwick and saw their best heifer peak at £2768.64 for 721kg. Top price per kilo overall at 406 went to a 666kg Limousin cross from Messrs Pearson, High Plasket lands sells to Pioneer Foods. Natively sold to £2223 for a 601kg Aberdeen Angus from Messrs Steel, Lesson Hall, Wigton. All a Belted Galloway Steer Sols to £2066.40 for 574kg from Messrs Little, Greenhill Wigton.
