Today’s trading seen a large entry of 366 head of calves forward. All classes well bid for from start to finish and a pleasing trade met throughout.

Today’s top price came for a 3m old British blue heifer calf from Bluestone farming. This shapey calf was possibly the best blue heifer to grace the calf ring in Borderway. It was tremendous. Limousin heifers topped at £820 from Messrs Irving, Brunthill Farm and Messrs Threlkeld, Ladywells topped the angus heifers at £680. Bulls again in high demand topping at £910 from Messrs Turnbull, Monks Farm, Penrith for a blue bull calf. Angus topped at £840 from Osborne, Cowlane and Limousins topped at £860 from Messrs Murchie, Hawkshall.
