SALE OF STORE CATTLE

WEDNESDAY 4^TH JUNE 2025

A much smaller entry of 180 forward due to most locals attending the National Sheep Association event held in Penrith.  The sale was the smallest show of cattle we will see all year and an unbelievable trade was witnessed seeing biggest cattle miles infront of last weeks trade with an obvious renewed confidence in the whole job as numbers begin to tighten.  Topping our sale overall was a 23 mth old British Blue cross from Messrs Graham, Carleton Hill, Carlisle at £2440; Messrs Grice, Newburn sold their best to £2420 and Messrs Ritchie, Croftheads, Annan matched this price with a Limousin cross; highest price Simmental cross came from Newtown Farm at £2400. Messrs Sloan, Stainton sold a pen of 4 Aberdeen Angus crosses to £2300

Heifers sold to a top of £2200 for two British Blue crosses from Messrs Graham, Carleton Hill, Carlisle; Simmentals to £2100 from Messrs Magnay, Greenwrae, Gretna and Limousins to £2080 from Messrs Palmer, Longrigg Thorn
