Ring 4 continues with numbers………….. mixed show forward with a respectable trade right through
On Wednesday 4th June Ring 4 held its weekly sale of weaned bulls in Borderway Mart. A sale of 276 took place despite a few missing due to weather or other ongoing events 92 bulls were forward with top price going to AJ Ewing, Dumbretton selling a year old Limousin to £1950; Chalkside Farming came with 14 British Blue bulls to average £1408.57 topping at £1520 for a pen of 5; Messrs Thompson, Brigham Farm brought 14 10-11 month dairy bred Angus bulls to average £1122.86
Steers and heifers were a mixed trade with top cattle still keeping recent high rates while others proved harder to place . Messrs Elliott, Hallburn Croft sold 4 Limousin steers and heifers to average £1710. Top price steer steer went to Hodgson & Peart, Weeds Farm selling 4 Limousin to £1740, James Neve, Riggfoot sold 5 Charolais & Angus steers and heifers to average £1386 topping at £1580.
Top price heifer went to Messrs Harrison, Sleddale Hall selling a Blue heifer to £1800, this run of 13 went on to average a respectable £1469.23
