High Mark Ayrshire Dispersal

Borderway, Rosehill, Carlisle, CA1 2RS

HIGH MARK AYRSHIRE DISPERSAL SALE
FRIDAY 30TH MAY 2025

The dispersal of the High Mark Pedigree Ayrshire herd took place at Borderway on Friday 30th May with buyers recorded from 16 counties from the Isle of Bute in the north to Somerset in the south.  Trade topped at 4,800gns with the overall average for milkers coming to £1859.

Owned by the Watson family the High Mark Ayrshire herd was well known throughout the UK and the Watson family have been stalwarts of the breed since they first introduced Ayrshire cattle to their farm approximately 25 years ago.  John Watson served the Ayrshire Breed Society as President in 2024 and hosted the Ayrshire Breed Conference recently in Wigtownshire.

Topping the sale at 3,800gns was High Mark Rollo Melanie who was purchased by the Astley family from Powys.  Melaine was a powerful framed young cow due with her second in August.  She was sired by Cuthill Towers Rollo with her first three dams all classified Excellent.  Her dam is the famous show cow High Mark Obligation Melanie EX94 who was Reserve Grand Champion at Agriscot in 2019. Her yearling sister sired by Pam Ayrs Hawaiian sold for 2,500gns to Messrs Adams in Derbyshire.

Daughters of Pam Ayrs Hawaiian impressed throughout the sale with one awesome uddered heifer, High Mark Hawaiian Carla selling for 3,200gns.  She had recently calved in March and was producing 33kgs and was bred from an EX91 dam.  This eye-catching heifer was bought by one of the Watson’s neighbours Hew & Wilma Howie from Stranraer.

In-calf heifers received a brisk trade topping at 2,550gns to average £2210.  Topping this promising group was High Mark Ladys Man Fantasy, she was sired by Beeline Ladys Man and was carrying a pregnancy to Royal Flush Sea King for July.  She was purchased by Messrs Myers from Yorkshire.

Yearling heifers again sold well with several astute breeders in strong coemption for the very best.  They topped at 2,600gns for a super flashy daughter of Palmyra Tri-Star Reality she was bred from an Excellent dam sired by Brieryside Magnum and was bought by the Service family from Newton Stewart.

Our next dairy sale at Borderway takes place on Wednesday 4th June and features 227 dairy cattle in the Borderway Monthly Dairy Day Sale.  The following day Thursday 5th June the Legends of Logan Sale takes place featuring 180 Pedigree Holstein cattle from the famous Logan Herd, at East Logan Farm, Castle Douglas.
