Kirkby Stephen Weekly Prime Lambs Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their weekly sale of Prime Sheep on Tuesday Evening when 721 Spring Lambs where forward.

Topping the prime lambs at £220 where a pair of 50kg Texel cross lambs from Messrs Sowerby, Terrys Farm, Ormside which where bought by Dowdings Butchers, Appleby In Westmorland.

Topping at 474.4p/kg where a pair of 39kg Beltex cross lambs which made £185 from first time vendors Messrs Barnes, Hawkin Hall, Carnforth.

This home also sold a pair of 44kg lambs to make £200 (454.5p/kg) a pen of eight 43kg at £190 (441.9p/kg) a pen of 47kg at £190 and a pen of five 41kg at £180.

Louise Todd, Market Rasen sold 57kg Charollais cross lambs to make £208, with a pen of six 49kg Texel cross lambs making £204 a pen of 56kg Suffolk cross lambs at £202.

The consignment of 59 well finished Charollais, Texel and Suffolk cross lambs sold to average 50.6kg and £192.69.

Messrs Hill & Wright, Doncaster sold a pen of seven 43kg Beltex cross lambs to make £191 (444.2p/kg) with a pen of four 48kg Texel cross lambs making £198, a pen of nine 44kg at £196 (445.5p/kg), and a pen of six 45kg at £190, and a pen of ten 44kg at £184.

Messrs Ewin, Black Syke, Sandford sold 49kg Texel cross lambs to make £199.

All classes of good meated, particularly good heavier lambs where a flying trade, being the dearest seen so far this season with an SQQ average of 390.5p/kg and an overall average of 387.6p/kg and a whopping £166.05.

Numbers where way short of buyers requirements and many more could have been sold to vendors advantage!
