Borderway Weaned Cattle Sale

On Wednesday 11^th June Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of store bulls and weanling cattle.  A smaller yet good show of quality sold exceptionally well especially for suckled bred types.

A good show of 67 store bulls topped at £2490 for an outstanding Limousin from Alistair Vance, Bridgehouse, Newton Stewart.  A C Telfer, High House sold an 11 month Limousin to £2080.  TR & EA Milburn, Wall End sold a 10 month British Blue to £2020.  Returning customers of renowned quality, KD & DE Miller & Partners, Crookholm, Canonbie sold a smart 10 month Limousin to £2010.  NB & IA Armstrong, High Tarns sold an outstanding 10 month pure British Blue to £1980.  AJ Ewing, Dunbretton sold a 12 month Limousin to £1940.  Reay & Walton, St Oswalds Farm sold 9 month old Simmental bulls to £1720.  Smallthwaite Farms Ltd sold a pen of 7, 12 month old Holstein Friesians bulls to £1370.

Kilnstown Farms sold an outstanding consignment of Autumn born Limousin cross calves topping at £2140 for heifers and £2080 for bullocks and averaging £1789 for 20.  Wigtownshire consignors ruled the roost in the heifer section selling to £1900 for a pair of Limousins from Alistair Vance, Bridgehouse and £1900 for a pair of Simmentals from N & N Gwynne, Castlewigg.

Luke Seymour and Stephen Millman, Brackenslack, Maulds Meaburn sold an outstanding Limousin cross heifer to £1860.  JG Thirlwall, Quarry Farm, Croglin sold their best to £1840 for a 10 month Limousin bullock.  J Mattinson, Burthwaite sold a good run of Limousin cross cattle with bullocks to £1760 and heifers to £1700.  S Dalton, Greenside sold a good run of Autumn born Limousin cross calves selling 8 month bullocks to £1580 and £1520 and heifers to £1400.  A & JM Forster Ltd, Wreay Hall Style, Wigton sold Dairy bred Limousin heifers to £1660 and a pair of Blues to £1560.
