PRIME AND CAST SHEEP

PRIME LAMBS: On Monday 16th June Harrison & Heatherington held their weekly sale of prime and cast sheep, a large entry for the time of year in Borderway saw all classes in high demand with the biggest smiles probably belonging to the hogg and ewe vendors which saw extreme demand, lambs sold very well , however it was fair to say finish and weight was certainly more sought after in this sector. 1096 ewes sold to £290 for a Texel from Messrs Merrell, The Green and saw an overall average of £163.49 with plainer to middle weight ewes looking very dear. 1398 prime lambs sold this week with a much plainer show on the week, which saw a big big trade for the heavier sorts with these topping the section at £220 for heavies from Paul Leonard, Pettigo with £200 proving no stumbling block for weight. Hogg trade was off the scale with weight again a massive price these topped at £202 for heavies from O & B Morgan, Hereford.
