Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 18^th June Harrison and Hetherington held its weekly sale of 342 calves. Milk calves continued to sell to extreme rates with weaned types similar on the week.  Trade topped at £1080 for a tremendous two month old Charolais bull calf from W Templeton, Glenlaugh, Dumfries.  They also sold another at £1060.  J & DM Graham, Laws Hall, Longtown sold a British Blue bull at £1040.  They also had them at £960, £930 and Herefords at £880.  WE & DM Hill, Arlosh House, Wigton sold Blues to £870.  D & M Irving, Brunt Hill, Wigton sold two Limousins bulls at £820.  Turnbull Farming, Plumpton, Penrith had Blues to £810.  Graham Farms, Greenrigg, Wigton had a pair of two month Blues at £780.

The heifer section was topped at £860 for a Charolais from W Templeton, Glenlaugh, Dumfries.  TJ Grindley & Son, Park House, Wigton sold Blues heifers to £840.  D& M Irving Farming, Brunt Hill, Wigton sold to £810.  Also, from the Wigton area WE & DM Hill & Son, Arlosh House sold their Blue heifer at £760.  Turnbull Farming, Monks House Penrith had a 2 month Blue heifer at £650 with J & D Martin, Boggle Hall, Penrith matching this.  TA & ML Jackson & Daughters, Guillyhill, Dumfries had a month old Inra-95 at £640.

Black & Whites sold to £490 for a Holstein from Castlesteads Farm Ltd, Penrith.  They also had them at £420 x 3.  SRUC, Easter Howgate also had three at £450.  Fleckviehs sold to £560 for a 2 month from J & DM Graham, Lawshall, Longtown with others at £500.
