SALE OF WEANED CATTLE
WEDNESDAY 25TH JUNE 2025
On Wednesday 25th June Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of store bulls and weanling cattle attracting a good entry of 308 which is exceptional given the time of year.
Topping the sale at £2800 was an outstanding 10-month-old Limousin bull from J Knight, Stephney, Seascale who’s great run of 8 bulls averaged £2376. JH Quine, Ballakilley, Isle of man sold a 9-month-old Limousin bull to £1950. E Eve and Son, Stubbsgill, Aspatria sold their top Limousin bulls to £1910. J Duff & Son, The Lathes sold Charolais bulls to £1790. Smallthwaite Farms, Calthwaite sold a pair of 12-month Holstein/Friesian bulls to £1580. Messrs Mattocks, Aulby Farm sold a pen of 4 Dairy Bred Limousin bull to £1300.
In the clear section topping the sale was a tremendous pair of Simmental Heifers selling for £2020 from JH Errington, Lowther Low Moor the same good home sold a breedy blue heifer to £1860. Harry Emslie, Brae of Coynach sold a pair of 13month Limousin heifers to £1920. J Knight, Stephney sold a 10-month Limousin heifer to £1820. Saler Heifers sold to £1700 from Kilnstown Farms, Roweltown. Bullocks topped at £1800 for a Limousin cross from I R Armstrong, Shankfield Head. Fleckvieh bullocks sold to £1720 & £1700 from J H Errington, Lowther Low Moor. J Browell & Son, Quarry House sold a yearling Limousin bullock to £1700. Kilnstown Farms sold a pen of 3 9-month-old Limousin bullock to £1620. Aberdeen Angus bullocks topped at £1510 from AF Ramsay, Gillespie, Newton Stewart. S & R Irving, The Height sold a pen of 3 cracking yearling Hereford bullocks to £1490. Dairy bred blue stirks sold to £1400 from Kate Evans, Wheyrigg House, Wigton.
