Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart Held Their Weekly Sale Of Prime Sheep On Tuesday Evening When 2313 Prime Sheep Where Forward Consisting Of 1558 Spring Lambs, 164 Prime Hoggs And 591 Cast Sheep.

Topping the spring lambs at £234 and 585p/kg where the first placed pen of five 40kg Texel cross lambs from Messrs Sowerby.

Terrys Farm, Ormside sold 48kg lambs to £230 (479.2p/kg) and 43kg to £202 (469.8p/kg).

The judging of our ‘High Fives’ show was carried out by quality prime/store lamb producer Ben Cowton, Tow Law who awarded the overall Championship to the first placed pen of five shapley Beltex cross lambs from JoJo Andrews, Boscar Flats, York which weighed 44kg and went on to sell for £220 (500p/kg).

This home also sold the third prize pen of five Texel cross lambs weighing 45kg to make £209 (464.4p/kg) a pen of five 43kg at £192.50, 51kg to £196, and 45kg at £191.

The 27 lambs from this home sold to average 45.8kg £200.61 (437.9p/kg).

Sowerby, Terrys Farm also sold the first prize pen of five Suffolk cross lambs making £200 and 52kg from this home and 52kg Texel cross lambs at £200.

Charlotte & Georgia Davies, Top Field Farm, Leicestershire sold a pen of twelve 42kg Beltex cross lambs to make £199 (473.8p/kg) with another pen of thirteen 40kg lambs making £189 (472.5p/kg).

Messrs Beadle, Scaife House, Darlington sold a pen of thirty 39kg Beltex cross to make £184 (471.8p/kg).

Messrs Pickard, Cheney House Farm, Leicestershire. Sold a pen of twenty three 40kg Beltex cross hoggs to make £189 (472.5p/kg) with another pen of fifteen 41kg lambs making £184, and a pen of twenty two 41kg at £180.

Messrs Hodgson, Green Farm, Shap sold 58kg Texel cross lambs to make £212.

Mule lambs sold to £140 for a pen of 43kg from Messrs Slack, Stoneriggs, Hilton.

Once again Kirkby Stephen bucked the national trend on the week so far achieving an SQQ average of 368.1p/kg and an overall average of 367.72p/kg and £155.50 for 1558 lambs sold.

Twenty Five pens and 82 lambs sold between £190 - £234.

Fifty pens and 264 lambs sold between £180 - £234.

Twenty Two pens and 202 lambs sold between 420 – 585p/kg.

Thirty Three pens and 258 lambs sold between 400 – 585p/kg.

Messrs Dodd, Skylin, Temple Sowerby sold a pen of four Beltex cross ewes to make £222, with a pen of four Texel cross ewes also making £222 from this home.
