Borderway Calf Sale

Borderway, Rosehill, Carlisle, CA1 2RS

On Wednesday 19th May Harrison & Hetherington Limited held their Annual Spring show and sale of young calves with an entry of 380 forward.  Our Pre Show Sale was expertly judged by James Harrison, Penrith and sponsored by Genus ABS who we would like to thank for their continued support of the Show.  Champion today was awarded to regular consignor Messrs Livingstone, Kirtlevale, Gretna  for a Limousin bull calf selling for £580 to Messrs Caddy.  This calf was sired by a Genus bull Lodge Hamlet. Reserve Champion was awarded to a Limousin Heifer again sired by Lodge Hamlet from Messrs Martin, Boggle Hall selling for £420 to the Judge.

Topping today’s sale at £620 was a cracking British Blue bull from Connell Farms, Whauphill, closely followed by a fantastic heifer from Messrs Ewing, Dunbretton, Annan  selling to £610.  Trade throughout would be easier on the week with many purchasers being busy with fieldwork.  Black and whites continue to sell to excellent rates regularly achieving £200 plus.
