DAIRY TRADE REMAINS STRONG AT BORDERWAY

Trade in the July Borderway Monthly Dairy Day Sale remained strong for fresh milkers and close calving cows and heifers.

A top price of £3250 was achieved four times! Thomas Blackwood from Ladehead Farm at Lesmahagow sold two fresh heifers at £3250, the first was Colvend Erratic Emma, a January 2023-born Colvend Erratic daughter. She was secured by Messrs Lloyd & Partners, Crundale, Haverfordwest. The next was Langhill Alma 169, a daughter of Welcome Silver Griff, she sold fresh calved to Messrs Carlyle, Longtown, Carlisle.

Will Booth then sold Feizor Pepper D Flo GP82 a fresh calved second lactation Delaberge Pepper A2A2 that gave 10496kg 4.16% 3.12% in 305 days as a heifer. She was also purchased by by Messrs Lloyd & Partners who also secured a fresh two-year old from Messrs Johnstone, Pettinain, Lanark.

Dry cows sold to a top of £2850 for Newmeadow Awesome Flo Molly from the Innes family, Nairn. This 3 year old due in August with her second calf to Carldanton Lambda Leroy sold to Bowdler Farms Ltd, Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

Highest price British Friesian was a fresh calved cow from the Williamson family at Barrowmoor Farm, Appleby. She sold for £2600 to Ellis Brothers, Warcop, Appleby.

Leading trade for in-calf heifers was Coppside Gipsy Red 24, a July 2023-born Coppside Crushtime Bracken daughter due at the end of July to the Aberdeen Angus. She was purchased by Messrs Colclough, Sandbach, Cheshire.

Our next dairy sales at Borderway is the Border & Lakeland Club Sale on Wednesday 16^th July.  On Wednesday 23^rd July the dispersal of the Greenmoorside herd on behalf of EA Sherwen takes place.
