SALE OF WEANED CATTLE

On Wednesday 9^th July Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of store bulls and weanling cattle . Another similar entry of 133 were forward to a trade more than keeping up with last weeks trade however bulls would be slightly easier on the week. Bulls topped at £1620 from John Eve, Stubbsgill whose run of 3 averaged £1383.33. Connell Farms sold a run of 11 dairy bred Angus and Simmental bulls to average £887 topping at £920 aged 6/7 months. Stirks saw another strong trade with top price going to Messrs Browell, Quarry House selling a 12 month old Limousin steer to £1900. The same home topped the heifers selling to £2030. This run of 6 averaged £1871.67. Messrs Tindale, Wydon Eals Farm, Hexham sold a run of 9 Aberdeen Angus heifers to average £1272 topping at £1500. Messrs Hogg, Whitehead Hill sold 7 Hereford and Angus steers to average £1286. A larger show of cattle expected next week with a run of 50 already forward.
