Borderway Weaned Cattle Sale

On Wednesday 16^th July Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of store bulls and weanling cattle.  A larger show of 170 were forward to a much improved trade on last week.  A show of 66 bulls went on  to average £1274.39, topping at £2470 for a 15 month pedigree Limousin from AJ Ewing, Dumbretton.  Angus bulls topped at £2340 for a 9 month bull from Messrs Hayward, Fell House who’s consignment of 3 averaged £2113.33.  Messrs Goldie, Newbie Mains came with a superb run of 7 nine to ten month old Pure Simmental bulls to £2000 and averaging £1675.71.  Thomas Todd, Wyndham, Wigton sold 9 Fleckvieh bulls to average £1705.56 topping at £2100.  Messrs Garthwaite & Son, Wyseby Hill sold 5 superb Limousin bull to average £2040 topping at £2300.

Overall Steers averaged £1265.96 topping at £1920 from Messrs Coulthard, Brisco Hall whose run off 10 Simmental x Angus steers to averaged £1518.  John & Ian Gillhespy, Cotehill came with 4 Limousin cross heifers aged 12 months and sold to £1630.  Heifers averaged £1211.39 topping at £1880 for a real fleshy heifer from Messrs Preston, Pallet Hill who run of 6 averaged £1713.33.  Messrs Gwynne, Castlewigg sold 3 Pedigree Simmental heifers to £1870 selling 3 to £1650.
