Borderway Weaned Cattle Sale

On Wednesday 23rd July Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of store bulls and weanling cattle in Ring 4.  An increased entry of 256 were forward with trade more than keeping up with recent weeks.  A larger show of 76 bulls were forward with the top end being extremely dearer, however middle of the road dairy bred bulls met some resistance.  Topping the bulls went to Andrew Marston, Easegill head selling at 14 month Pedigree Limousin to £2750.  The same home sold bulls to £2410 and £2360 selling three to average £2502.  Steven Graham, Miller Hill selling six to average £2250, selling two to £2270 and a pen of four to £2240.  Connell Farms sold eleven 6/7 month Angus and Simmentals bulls to £880.  105 steers average £1223.33 with a top price going to J Oliver, Walton Woodhead who sold seven 12 month Limousin steers to average £1740.  John Bromwell, Quarry House sold twelve Limousin heifers and steers 8/9 month old to average £1556.  Heifers topped at £1830 for a Blue heifer from Messrs Sowerby, Partridge Nest, Hexham.  Messrs Carr, Whiteclose Rigg sold a run of 34 Angus and Blues dairy bred at 10 months of age to average £1088.82.  More are needed next week.
