Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 30th July Harrison and Hetherington held its weekly sale of calves.  Trade was flying for all types, with averages up on the week.  Trade topped at £1000 for a fantastic Blue bull calf from Messrs Fisher Farming, Smalmstown.  Chalkside Farming, Wigton sold a great pen of six Blue British bull calves for £900.  Turnbull Farming, Penrith sold calves to £880.  C W Gott, Burton House, Cockermouth sold Blue bulls to £850 and £830.  H & DM Forster, East Wharmley, Hexham sold a 1  month Charolais to £780.  New Consignors A & M Kennedy, Grougfoot, Linlithgow sold Angus bulls to £760.  Fauld Farm sold 2 month Angus to £750.

Heifers sold to £900 for a Simmental from Ireland Livestock, Newcastle.  They also sold a Limousin to £750.  Turnbull Farming had a 2 month Blue heifer to £750.  RH & J Irving, Meinbank, Lockerbie had 2 month Angus heifers to £750 and £710.  Chalkside Farming, Wigton sold a pair of Blue heifers to £705.  C W Gott, Burton House had Blue heifers at £700.

Black and whites sold to £560 from J & M Hodgson, 3 Middle Farm, Brampton,  A & M Kennedy, Grougfoot, Linlithgow sold three Friesians to £540 at 2 months of age.  C W Gott, Burton House had Holstein at £520.  AM Kennedy, Grougfoot also sold Friesian to £500 x2 and £470.
