On Wednesday 6th August 2025 Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of Store cattle with a plainer offering of 300 forward especially seen in the heifers. Averages show a small rise on the week once again and for the quality cattle would see a good rise. Topping the sale overall at £2700 was a Limousin cross steer from Messrs Grice, Newtown, Carlisle. British Blues from Messrs Holiday, New Brampton, Wigton sold to £2520 as did Limousins from Messrs Fisher, Lairdlaugh, Castle Douglas. Simmentals to £2500 from Newtown Farm, Carlisle. Messrs Moffat, Kirtlebank Farm, Gretna sold British Blues to £2480 and Messrs Lockhart, Fauldingcleugh, Lockerbie sold two to £2460. Charolais crosses topped at £2440 from Newbampton Farm, Wigton
Heifers sold to a top of £2460 for a Charolais cross from Messrs Slack, Cockleybank, Brampton. Aberdeen Angus sold twice to £2420 firstly by Messrs Roberts, Town Head, Cockermouth and secondly by Messrs Hayward, Fell House, Hexham. Messrs Holliday & Graham, Bolton Wood Lane, Wigton sold best British Blue crosses to £2400 and £2380. Messrs Cadzow, Duncrahill Farm, Tranent sold a 16 month old Limousin from their run of cattle to £2300.
Dairy steers sold to a top of £1940 for a Fleckvieh from Messrs Hodgson, White House, Penrith. A Holstein Friesian from Messrs Miller, Tarn Lodge, Brampton sold to £1920.
Numbers are well down on requirements and vendors should take full use of the number one store cattle ring in the North of England.
