Borderway Weaned Cattle Sale

On Wednesday 6^th August Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of store bulls and wean ed cattle.  A larger show of stirks were forward with only a handful of bulls present.

A total of 33 bulls were entered to average £1179.82.  The section topped with a superb pen of three Angus bulls to £2170 from Messrs Nixon, Ribton House.  His run of 6 averaged £1955.  Messrs Mattocks, Row Hall sold 8 British Friesians bull 7-8 months old to average £820.  Simmental bulls topped at £2060 from P & CM Goldsbrough, Moffat.   A bigger show of steers was forward to a total sale average of £1397.86.  The section topped at £2110 for a blistering black steer from Willie Weatherson, Edge Green.   This consignment of four steers and heifers averaged a superb £1807.50 all aged between 10-12 months.  Messrs Carr, Pasture House brought a run of 12 dairy bred Limousin and Charolais steers to average £1600.83 topping at £1760.  Messrs Mattinson, Burthwaite sold five, year old Limousin steers to average £1596.  Messrs Beaty, Stonewalls sold five Montbeliardes steers to average £1608.  Messrs Watson, Rotherhope brought six Limousin steers and heifers selling to £1581.67 topping at £1660.

Heifers averaged £1320.56 topping at £1960 for a Charolais cross from Alf Thompson, Woodhead.  This run of three averaged £1936.67.  Messrs Hayward, Fell House sold an outstanding Angus heifer to £1780.  A superb show was forward with probably one of the best shows in recent weeks.  More are needed to satisfy demand.
