STORE LAMBS – OPENING SALE

On Thursday 7^th August Harrison & Hetherington held its sale of store lambs in Lazonby Market. A show forward that simply had to be seen to be believed. The best show of sheep was forward for some time and they met a delightful trade averaging £110 on the nose £15 more for the same sale in 2024. It was also noted that 50% of the sale were hill bred mule lambs. Topping the sale was Willie and Connor Lee, Softley who for the first pen of the day sold to £157 for 12 texel cross lambs, this run sold lambs to £138, £144, £148 selling 71 to average £144.51. Andrew Stainton Middle Farm sold a pen of 10 texel lambs to £130. Mules met a blistering trade from the get go with a breed average of £107.37 being achieved. Topping was Phillip Dawson, The Lodge selling 25 to £127. Messrs Sowerby, Amos Hill sold a pen of 22 to £122.50. a total of £163 mules sold for £110 or more. Suffolks averaged £123 for a pen of 44 from Messrs Pickthall, Mains Farm. Colin Howe, Colene Craft saw 20 to £121. Swaledale lambs topped at £94 from Gary Hope, Syke Side. Cheviot mules lambs topped at £125 from Paul Staley, Broadmew for a pen of 25.
