Red-Hot Trade at Nethervalley NexGen Sale as Elite Genetics Lead the Way

A fantastic crowd from across Great Britain gathered for the highly anticipated Nethervalley NexGen Sale, where a stellar lineup of elite Holsteins and select Jerseys met with a fierce trade from start to finish. Hosted by Robbie and Margo Scott, the sale was part of the couple’s succession planning with the next generation eager to become integrated into the business.

Top Price Soars to 10,000gns

Leading the day was the much-admired Knowlesmere Chief Brittany, selling for 10,000gns to Cairnpat Holsteins. This April-calved heifer, crowned Reserve All-Britain Heifer 2024, drew widespread admiration and strong bidding before being secured by her new owners. Brittany was bred from an All Canadian winning line that featured Jacobs Sid Beauty who was Intermediate Champion at World Dairy Expo and her fourth dam was Jacobs Goldwyn Britiany who was Holstein Cananda Cow of the Year in 2017.

Close behind at 8,100gns was the stylish Nethervalley Pharo Sara, sold recently calved to Neil Sloan for Knoweside Holsteins. Her combination of performance and pedigree made her a standout lot of the day. Her grand dam, Nethervalley Kingpin Sara was Champion Calf at the Scottish Calf Show in 2019 and sold for 10,000gns in the Black & White sale in the same year. Several National winners and All Britain winners feature in this top sellers pedigree including Copywood Intergrity Sara and Riverdane Strawberry Red.

Other in-milk heifer highlights included:

Nethervalley Rager Miss Lolli VG86 – was due in November with her second and sold to Holehouse Farms for 7,800gns. She was bred from a deep cow family with her grand dam and third dam both classifying Excellent 93. Her sire stack included legends of the Holstein bred with Awesome Red, Damion, Shottle and Goldwyn featuring in her first four generations.

Top Cows in Milk Hit 7000gns

A trio of top-end cows sold for 7,000gns each:

Nethervalley Applicable Elegance EX94-2E – a true sale favourite, was secured by Cairnpat Holsteins. Elegance was a tremendous cow bred from an Excellent 96 pointed dam from the famous Bowberhill herd she then goes back to another world famous the Excellent 96 pointed cow, Krull Broker Elegance who was a multiple All American winner. Her granddaughter, Nethervalley Bullseye Elegance featured in the leading heifer calf prices selling for 5,200gns to the Woodburn family.
Nethervalley Doc Inka Ideal VG88 – will also be joining Cairnpat Holsteins, she is a daughter of King-Doc and once again bred from a deep cow family stacked with highly classified cows with massive production records. Her fancy uddered sister by Rager Red sold later in the sale for 4,200gns.
Nethervalley Kingdoc Rozelle VG88 – will be heading to VeTech Holsteins for 7,000gns. Her maternal line has produced several high genomic females including Diepenhoek Rozelle 54 who was the Former #1 GTPI Heifer in Europe and is the dam of proven sires Chevvy and Buick at Cogent.

Heifer Calves & Yearling Heifers Show Tremendous Demand

The top of the calf trade saw:

Nethervalley Zafar Kitty Red sell for 5,300gns to Holehouse Farms. Kitty was a super attractive heifer bred from ten generations of Excellent or Very Good dams going back to the famous show winner CRF Birch Kitty EX95. Her fancy dam by Attico Red sold for 5,200gns to Purple Hill Farms.
Nethervalley Showtime Starlet Red sold for 5,200gns to Baltier Farming Company. Her third dam was a member of the GB Team at the European Show in Colmar and was Grand Champion at UK Dairy Expo in 2016. Her Grand Champion winning dam sold for 8,000gns in the Parkend Sale in 2023 following an impressive win at the Royal Highland Show.

A Generous Gesture for a Worthy Cause

In a wonderful act of generosity, the Scott family opted not to give luck money, instead donating £2,500 to Ayrshire Cancer Support Centre. Combined with a charity auction at the close of the sale, a fantastic total of £5,000 was raised for the charity — a fitting end to a remarkable day.

The Nethervalley NexGen Sale was not only a showcase of first-class genetics but a testament to the strength, support, and spirit within the UK dairy community. Congratulations to all buyers and vendors on an outstanding day.
