On Wednesday the 3rd September Harrison and Hetherington had a good show of 572 store cattle forward seeing a very mixed show for quality evident. Trade remains very good and was better than everyone’s expectations. A days top of £2560 was achieved nine times, Messrs Dayson, Yew Tree, Carlisle sold a pen of six British Blues steers. Messrs Todd, Longhirst, Brampton sold an 18 month old Limousin cross and Messrs Johnstone, Westray, Cockermouth sold two Herefords cross steers. Charolais to £2540 from Messrs Udale, Sideway Bank, Penrith and Aberdeen Angus crosses to £2480 for the last ever animal to be sold by great H & H customers, Messrs Slack, Newby Farm, Carlisle.
Heifers topped at £2520 for a Limousin cross heifer from Messrs Beattie, Ratlinggate Farm, Carlisle, the same home also sold another to £2480 and Messrs Grice, Newtown Farm, Carlisle sold two to £2460. Aberdeen Angus crosses to £2420 from Messrs Crichton, Limekilns, Annan and British Blues to £2340 for 18 months old from Messrs Tiffin, Wham Head, Penrith and Charolais to £2350 from Messrs Story, Blackrigg, Longtown.
Dairy bred cattle sold to £2160 for Fleckvieh steers from Messrs Hebson, Chapel Farm, Carlisle and to £2140 for a pair of 4 Holsteins Friesians from Messrs Dickinson, Kirkbarrow Hall, Penrith. Messrs Moscrop, Ryeclose, Carlisle sold a pen of eight Friesian to £1970.
